Monthly Newsletter from Pastor Dawn
March 2026
Greetings Advent Lutheran Church Family,
March is upon us and so is the season of Lent. I pray you are easing into some private reflection time and that God is calling you closer to the center of yourself.
The church is busy this month with two services each week. Wednesdays are turning out to be a lovely time of fellowship and meaningful prayer and reflection. I hope you’ll consider joining us at 6 pm for soup and 6:30 pm for a short service.
God is making Beautiful Things from the dust of our lives. (Did you see what I did there?
Beautiful things…we should all know that song by heart by now, thanks to the Encounter Band on Sundays and Carter on Wednesdays. Thanks very much to our wonderful musicians.
In a few weeks I’ll be traveling to Philadelphia for a Grief & Trauma class as part of my Doctoral program. I would covet your prayers as I move about on planes and cars and escalators. I am excited about the learning that we will share together as we concentrate on expanding our reach in the community as well as growing the membership of the church. This learning will be invaluable for my ministry and I greatly appreciate your support and encouragement.
As I mentioned in my sermon today, we are in a posture of growth and I have had some exciting conversations with a few of you about new ideas you have for ministry and outreach here at Advent. I encourage and support lay-led ministry and look forward to helping your dreams and aspirations take flight. My ask for our conversations is that you bring your ideas fleshed out as much as possible (idea, format & function, audience, leader AND co-leader (2), meeting times, etc.) Generally, new ministries that either a) have a cost involved, or b) use the Advent LC name out in the community need Council approval. This is where having a fleshed out idea is most helpful for me to present it on your behalf. (There is rarely a no or not yet, but the Council does an excellent job of looking at a ministry from many different angles and that is helpful to its success.)
Thank you to all the folks who have participated in our fellowship events lately, we send a huge thank you to the leadership there. Fellowship is what makes us celebrate joy. Formation is what helps us learn (Seniors, we haven’t forgotten you!), Worship is what helps us praise, and YOU and your participation are what make us thrive.
Bloom where you are planted, Beloveds.
Peace and blessings,
Pastor Dawn
