Community: Outreach, Fellowship, and Evangelism

Fellowship

Theology on Tap meets on the second Tuesday of the month for dinner at a rotation of local restaurants and member homes. There is good food, fellowship & fun, and a topic of the month is discussed. You can follow the Facebook page for Theology on Tap to find out the discussion topic of the month.

The Inbetweeners is our group for those who are too old for college and too young to be retired. They meet on the third Saturday of the month in the evening at various locations. We have also been meeting regularly for Sunday night Brainiac Trivia hosted at Cedar Glade Brews.

The Fabulous Ladies of Advent is open to all women of Advent, disciples and visitors alike. There are various activities (usually once a month). A craft day, outings, movies, visiting local businesses etc. This group is dedicated to inclusivity and welcomes all women, as well as those who identify as women, regardless of gender identity. You can sign up to join in their activities on The Fabulous Ladies of Advent Facebook Page or in the E-News.

Book Club meets at the church on the second Tuesday of the month @ 10:00 am in the Parlor. Following our discussion, we gather in the Fellowship Hall for lunch, so bring a brown bag lunch — dessert is provided! All are welcome, even if you have not read the book! Come and join us for good conversation and fellowship!

Blessing Box

This year, Advent’s youth led an initiative to establish and decorate a “blessing box” for non-perishable food and hygiene products for our local neighbors who are in need. The box is always open and available, and anyone is free to take or contribute according to their needs and abilities. We only ask that you avoid perishables and aerosols and limit items that may require scarce prep resources (microwaves, eggs, milk). Here are some suggested items:

  • Pop top canned goods
  • Granola or protein bars
  • Water
  • Sports drinks
  • Juice pouches or boxes
  • Fruit cups
  • Pop-tarts
  • Ramen noodles
  • Peanut packets
  • Boxed noodles
  • Sauces
  • Snacks
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Hotel soap samples
  • Mini laundry detergent bottles
  • Travel size toiletries
  • Plastic utensils
  • Hot Hands (in winter)
  • Rolled throw blankets
  • Cat and dog food
  • Feminine products
  • Socks
  • First Aid items

If you are not able to physically contribute to the blessing box but wish to contribute to it, we’ll do the shopping for you! Give at the link below:
